About Us
The people behind the work.
An Operational Authorisation is granted to an operation, and an operation is people before it is equipment. The same holds for the support behind a system once it is flying. What a client buys from The Bionic Eye is backed by a named team that spans engineering, regulatory support, sales, agronomy and commercial advice.
Most of that team has come up through the business rather than into it. The Bionic Eye spent its first decade building drones from components before it supplied ready-to-fly systems, so the people who diagnose a fault today are the people who understand how the drone is built. That is the difference between a supplier and a reseller, and it sits in the team rather than in the catalogue.
Leadership
Andrew Eio, Managing Director. Sets the direction of the business and holds its principal supplier relationships.
Luke Delbarre, Technical Director. Leads the engineering, build and in-house repair work.
Alexander Eio, Sales. Handles online sales, enquiries, specification and demonstrations.
Nick Cowell, Marketing Director. Leads marketing across the business and its specialist brands.
David Clark, Business Consultant. Advises on commercial strategy.
Nick Stennett, Agricultural Consultant. Advises on precision agriculture and application.
How the team is organised
The team is organised around the work rather than by department. Engineering and technical support specify a system, build or configure it, and repair it, so the knowledge that goes into a drone is the same knowledge that keeps it flying. Regulatory support takes a client through the Operational Authorisation, from scoping the intended work to the operations manual and the evidence the Civil Aviation Authority asks for. Sales and account management stay with a client after the sale rather than passing them on. Agricultural and commercial advice is available where a client needs more than equipment.
Because the same people carry a client from specification through to support, there is no point of handover at which detail is lost.
Experience
The business has planned, engineered and delivered complex technical work for close to thirty years, first in computer and motion graphics for feature film, then in construction visualisation, and since 2014 in commercial drone operation. That experience sits behind the team and shapes how it approaches work that has no off the shelf answer.
